Law enforcement officers registered more than 70 criminal offenses for business on humanitarian aid in a month.
This was announced on Facebook by the Prosecutor General of Ukraine Irina Venediktova.
“The immortal principle “to whom is war, and to whom is mother” is a reason for law enforcement officers to be on the alert 24/7,” she said.
According to Venediktova, at a time when the whole world is sending aid to Ukrainians, people are raising funds for the army and for the victims, one cannot allow “scum to use the good and earn on the mountain.”
The Prosecutor General recalled that a new legislative norm on criminal liability for trade in humanitarian aid has been in force for a little more than a month.
“Now we have 74 registered criminal offenses under Article 201-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Most of these facts were found by law enforcement agencies in Kyiv – 13, Lviv – 9, Volyn, Kharkov and Chernivtsi – 5 each, Zhytomyr, Kyiv, Odessa, Poltava regions – 4,” she said.
At the same time, the Prosecutor General added that the National Police is investigating another three dozen cases regarding illegal actions with humanitarian cargoes started under a different qualification.
Venediktova said that the day before, the general director of the Chernivtsi Regional Clinical Hospital was exposed, who used 5 ambulances received from Italy as humanitarian aid to provide paid services. He was detained while receiving UAH 16,000 in unlawful benefits.
In addition, an ex-official of the Regional State Administration and the editor-in-chief of an online publication were detained in the Lviv region, who illegally sold aid from the EU – bulletproof vests and helmets totaling UAH 535,000, and also misappropriated charitable donations.
Recall that the Ukrainian law enforcement authorities in absentia announced the suspicion of two Russian military. They are suspected of torturing and robbing residents of the Buchansky district of the Kyiv region.
