Another illegal conscription campaign continues in Crimea.
According to the prosecutor’s office of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol, the inhabitants of the occupied Crimea drafted into the Russian army will be sent to war against Ukraine.
On the territory of the temporarily occupied peninsula, the next, 15th, illegal conscription campaign continues.
Law enforcers report that conscripts (mostly citizens of Ukraine) will be forced to directly participate in Russia’s war against Ukraine.
As UNIAN reported earlier, in early April, Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights Lyudmila Denisova reported that in the occupied Crimea, Russian military patrols forcibly deliver conscripts to collection points instead of issuing subpoenas. In addition, men of military age are prohibited from leaving the territory of the peninsula.
The conscription into the Russian army of Ukrainian citizens living in the temporarily occupied Crimea is a violation of the Geneva Convention for the Protection of Civilian Population in Time of War.
