PIE MORAL – Jason Bateman and Laura Linney, Superb in the Ozark: United by Family and Crime – ./Netflix
Ozark — part 2 of season four (available on Netflix)
As if the naturally indigestible atmosphere at the Byrde family’s meals weren’t enough, the eldest daughter, Charlotte (Sofia Hublitz), sours the dinner once and for all with the revelation: she will move a process of emancipation to adulthood. The reaction of parents, accountant Marty (Jason Bateman) and lobbyist Wendy (Laura Linney), sums up the clan’s contradictions. The couple genuinely cares about their offspring, but their daughter’s decision bothers them because of the potential for damage to their shady dealings with the criminal fauna of a corner of the American Midwest and high-flying Mexican mobsters. After four seasons, the Byrde saga comes to an end with this eight-episode run, already leaving homesick — but also the certainty that Ozark is the best take on TV morals since the sacrosanct Breaking Bad.
