Reconciliation. In search of an alliance that goes beyond the limits of the left, Lula invited former toucan Geraldo Alckmin, a former adversary, to the post of deputy Marlene Bérgamo/Folha Imagem
Former President Lula intends to form a broad front, with politicians from the left to the center-right, to defeat Jair Bolsonaro, who, according to the PT, represents a real threat to democracy. The most evident gesture in this regard was the choice of former governor Geraldo Alckmin, who exchanged the PSDB for the PSB, to be the deputy on the PT presidential ticket in 2022. Other initiatives will soon be adopted, such as the inclusion in the campaign coordination of representatives of the parties that declare support for Lula.
Senator Randolfe Rodrigues has already been chosen to integrate the collegiate, on behalf of the Sustainability Network. PCdoB will also gain a seat. The same should happen with PSOL and Solidarity as soon as they confirm the boarding of the PT campaign. Charged for overly centralizing decisions, Lula promises to further oxygenate coordination, expanding the number of party colleagues in the group, which will include former governors, such as Wellington Dias (PI) and Jaques Wagner (BA), and federal deputies. Among them, Paulo Pimenta (RS) and José Guimarães (CE).
Until now, Lula was advised by a few former advisers, such as Aloizio Mercadante, Franklin Martins and Luiz Dulci. Due to an internal dispute over power and money, Martins should leave the campaign’s communication coordination, as detailed in a report in the new edition of VEJA, but he will remain in the former president’s team. Despite this punctual change and the increase in the number of members of the coordination, few believe that there will be major changes in Lula’s campaign.
The reason is simple: due to electoral necessity, the ex-president may even be forced to listen to more people, but in the end, as always, the final decision will be his. And full stop. “Everyone asks what our economic policy will be? It will be the policy defined by Lula”, illustrates a resigned PT member.
