The data released by the National Council of Health Secretaries (CONASS) this Saturday, 30, point to the effectiveness of the vaccination campaign in the fight against the new coronavirus. The lethal potency of the virus, cause of covid-19is decreasing more and more and the country begins to register the lowest mortality rates since the beginning of the pandemic.
With 87 deaths caused by Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, April comes to an end with 3,740 fatalities counted in 30 days. This is the lowest balance since March 2020, the month in which the first death from the disease in Brazil was recorded – on the 17th day. At the time, the country totaled 201 deaths in 14 days.
The number of deaths totaled in April is much lower than the sum in the worst month of the pandemic: at the peak of the second wave, in April last year, 82,266 Brazilians lost their lives after being infected by the coronavirus. At the height of mortality, on April 13, 2021, the number of deaths reached 3,808 in 24 hours (surpassing the total for the last month).
Despite this, with a variation of 23.5% in comparison with the data recorded 14 days ago, the death curve has risen again, this Saturday, after more than two months of constant decline. The moving average of deaths reached today – 126.7 – is the highest in the last 16 days. The assessment is carried out by infectious disease specialists, who set a variation of 15% as the inflection point to change the trend of the pandemic.
The moving average of Covid-19 cases returned to stability after 39 days. According to the survey carried out by LOOKthe moving average is 14,654.6 cases, with a variation rate of 2.2% compared to the numbers recorded two weeks ago.
