President Lula, at an event at Petrobras Ricardo Stuckert/Disclosure
In an interview this morning, the former president Lula (PT) promised that, if elected, he will put into practice actions to reduce the gasoline price and stated that it will create alternatives to the current international parity price of Petrobras.
Created in 2016, during the Temer government, the PPI is linked to the international price system and, therefore, the variation of the dollar and the barrel of oil have a direct impact on the calculation of the state-owned fuel.
“I’ve been using the word ‘Brazilianize’ fuel prices, gas prices (…) The price doesn’t have to be an import parity price. The price may depend on our reality, and that’s what we’re going to do. You can be prepared that you will fill your car’s tank with the price of gasoline in reais, depending on our reality. We have already proved that this is possible,” Lula told Rádio Jornal de Pernambuco.
